Abstract

935,345. Concrete mixers. LINER CONCRETE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Sept. 18, 1961 [Sept. 27, 1960], No. 33103/60. Class 86. In a stationary or vehicle-mounted concrete mixer of the type in which the axis of rotation of the drum is fixed, the drum having a single opening for charging and discharging the drum is driven by at least one hydraulic motor having its casing secured to the drum and its shaft fixed in the frame. As shown, the drum 11 of a vehicle mounted mixer is driven by an hydraulic motor 13 fixed to and rotating with the drum base 14. Pressure fluid is provided by one or more pumps as at 15, driven from the vehicle engine through a belt or gearing, or from a separate engine. A valve or valves with manual control lever as at 17 regulates the speed and direction of rotation of the pump. The hydraulic motor may be located within the drum as shown. The drum opening may be at the front of the vehicle instead of at the back as shown in the Figure. The motor may be reversed by using a reversible pump instead of a control valve; and the motor speed may be varied by using .several pumps, each designed to drive it at a different speed. The drum may be driven by two or more motors in tandem. A stationary mixer may be supplied with pressure fluid from hydraulic mains.
