Abstract

880,034. Concrete mixers: driving mechanisms. STOTHERT & PITT Ltd. Feb. 12, 1960 [March 26, 1959], No. 10607/59. Class 86 In a concrete-mixer of the rotary tilting-drum type the drum D is rotated by a hydraulic motor 18 through worm gearing 13, 14 all supported on the drum cradle C. The worm wheel 13 is mounted on a spindle 11 which is engaged by splines 17 with a sleeve 25 cast integral with the base 26 of the drum, which is secured on the spindle 11 by a nut 31. The hydraulic motor 1 and gear-box 2 with shaft 11 are separately detachable unitary assemblies. The motor is actuated by pressure fluid from a pump 4 driven by a prime mover 5, both mounted on the mixer frame. The motor is reversible in order to reverse the direction of rotation of the drum when discharging.
