Rotary motion is transmitted between angularly disposed rotors 26, 28 in a rigid elbowed housing 14-12-16 by means of rigid angled rods 64 reciprocating in grooves 62 in the rotors, the grooves being shaped as shown in Fig. 2 to leave openings 78 along their lengths between the rods 64 and a surrounding bearing sleeve 24. The openings 78 serve to hold lubricant and to vent the channels 62 into the interior of the elbow 12, thereby avoiding air pressure resistance to the reciprocation of the rods. The rotors 26, 28 have integral shaft portions 30, 32 and are axially located by snap rings 64, 48 held in housing end covers 18, 20. In a modification the sleeve bearings 22, 24 are omitted. The fixed angle between the rotor axes (shown as 90 degrees) may lie anywhere between 90 and 180 degrees.
