Abstract

703,216. Rotary pumps. BEGHIN, M. C. M. March 22, 1952, No. 7456/52. Class 110 (2) The pump comprises members F1, F2 on rotary shafts A, A2 which are inclined at an angle to each other, and a central member 1 cut from a sphere and provided with two grooves at right angles to each other to form pumping chambers E. The pump delivery may be regulated by varying the angle between the shafts, shaft A<SP>2</SP> being movable. This movement may be reciprocatory in a plane; or a conical one as shown in Fig. 8. The casing may be fixed, Fig. 5, comprising two parts 2a, 2b, bolted together and having inlet and outlet ports 3, 4 of divergent shape as shown. A thrust ball bearing 5a may be adjustable and provided with lubricating means. Another bearing 5b is provided with a packing box The member 1 may be of stainless steel and the forks F1, F2 of gun metal, or all of steel. To cope with impurities in the liquid, gun-metal plates may be fixed to the members Fl, F2. The casing 2a, 2b may be of stainless steel and may be lined with rubber or the like. To meet with high delivery pressures, the bearings may be doubled. Lubricating ducts may be arranged in the moving parts. In Fig. 7 the casing 2 rotates on the axis of the shaft A1 and is journalled on a stator 9. Passages 8 lead to and from the pumping chambers E and co-act with arcuate parts 3a, 4a, in a fixed member 10. Both shafts A1, A2 may have conical motions.
