965,093. Bobbins. P. PORTAL. Jan. 16, 1961 [July 19, 1960], No. 1676/61. Heading B8M. A textile bobbin of the kind incorporating two-part cheeks 1, 2 made from materials having different moduli of elasticity whereof the part 1 of smaller diameter at least partially reinforces the part 2, is characterized in that the peripheral rim T of the part 1 is situated approximately opposite the annular region of the part 2 on which acts the resultant P<SP>1</SP> of the load P arising from the winding of the threads on the bobbin, thereby reducing deformation of the cheeks without unduly increasing the weight of the bobbin. A steel hub or core 1 is screwed on to a tube 3 and a light alloy rim 2 of the shape shown is held between the hub 1 and the tube 3 by parts 5, 6. Preferably the curve a, b, c of the hub 1 is not in contact with the curve a, b1, c of the rim 2 to allow the rim a certain amount of play during winding.
