Abstract

1,027,251. Yarn tension devices. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. Jan. 30, 1963 [Feb. 26, 1962; May 9, 1962], Nos. 7353/62 and 17784/62. Heading D1D. A tension device for mounting at the top of a two for one twisting spindle is of the tension regulating type so that the amount of yarn on the storage disc tends to remain constant, a condition which it is stated leads to the production of yarn having a more regular twist. As shown the tension device comprises a body 30 which is a push fit in the bobbin and is formed with a circular lip 32 on which lies a disc 42. A collar 33 is rotatably mounted on the body 30 and carries a flyer 34 having a guide eye 43 and has a lever 37 pivoted thereon at 36. The outer end of lever 35 has a guide eye while the inner end carries an upstanding pin 39 and bears down upon a ball 41 set in the disc 42. Weights 40 are loaded on pin 39, alternatively spring weighting means may be used. In operation yarn coming from the package passes to the flyer eye 43, then through the eye on lever 37 and finally between disc 42 and lip 32 whereby it is tensioned. If the yarn tension increases the lever 37 is pulled downwards at its outer end and weights 40 are lifted, thus regulating the tension in the yarn leaving the device and passing to the storage disc.
