Abstract

668,856. Textile delivery flyers. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and COTTERILL,E. Dec. 1, 1948, No. 11151/49. Class 120(ii) A flyer for mounting at the end of a bobbin in a yarn twisting apparatus come prises a thin disc with provision at its centre for mounting it upon the bobbin so that it may be rotated relatively thereto, part of the edge of the disc being cut away so that the eye of a thread guide mounted on the disc lies within'the periphery of the disc. The disc 6, Fig. 1, may be dish-shaped and may be cemented to a plastic hub freely rotatable around a spindle carrying the bobbin, or as shown may be mounted on a ball bearing 4 carried by a hollow cap 1 fitted to the bobbin 2. The metal guide 7, Fig. 2, is clipped to the edge of the disc 6 so that its eye 7a fits within the cut away portion 6a. The bobbin 2 may be mounted on a hollow spindle 9 in a double twist assembly, Fig. 5, the thread 8 leaving the hollow spindle through an opening 11 and a slot in the wharl 12, through which the spindle is rotated.
