Abstract

964,101. Buffers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 16, 1960 [Sept. 17, 1959], No. 31715/59. Heading F2S. [Also in Division H2] A backstop which does not transmit vibrations to a member biased against it comprises a biased pivoted lever which is engaged by the member. As shown a pin 10a projecting from the rotor disc 10 of an induction relay is biased to the left by a spring (not shown) and engages the end 13g of a lever 13 pivoted at 13d on a fixed bracket 13a. The lever 13 is biased by a weight 13e so as to bear on a stop 13f formed by one end of the bracket 13a, the other end of which carries an adjustable stop screw 13b. Vibration of the relay causing movement of the bracket 13a to the right or left does not result in movement of the rotor 10 since in the former case the lever 13 pivots in an anticlockwise direction and in the latter case the pin 10a and lever end 13g separate for a short period during which the inertia of the disc assembly prevents any appreciable movement due to its biasing spring.
