968,505. Waveguide accessories; electromagnets. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 5, 1961 [Oct. 12, 1960], No. 34951/60. Headings H1P and H1W. An attenuator vane 12 is moved in a direction parallel to the broad face 11 of a rectangular waveguide by a solenoid-operated plunger 17 which acts through a spring 18 against a further spring 21. The springs are connected to opposite ends of a lever 19 pivoted at 20. Motion of the lever is damped by an air dashpot 23. The lever is coupled to a yoke 15 supporting the vane 12 by a pin-and-slot coupling.
