Abstract
756,347. Automatic circuit-breakers. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A. June 4, 1954 [June 4, 1953]. No. 15489/53. Class 38(5) In order to overcome friction of the movable parts, which may prevent opening of the breaker when tripped, one of the elements in the train of mechanism between the spring (or other opening force), and the latch 13 is resilient so as to be deflected by the force transmitted through it. In Fig. 1, the train (not shown), terminates at 17 in a lever system 11a, 11b collectively pivoted at 15a and interconnected by'a pivot 18 and a spring 20 compressed between lever 11b and the head 22 of a pin 21 fixed to lever 11a. When the latch 13 releases the lever 11b the latter strikes the lever 11a (or a cushion 23 carried thereon), so as to overcome bearing friction in the movable parts. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the lever system is replaced by a single resilient strip carrying a weight at its end which engages the latch. In Fig. 3, a rigid latch arm 40 is connected to a lever 42 of the train by a torsion spring 43 surrounding a shaft 41 carrying the lever 42.
