Abstract
960,107. Cycle saddle supports. L. CANEPA. Oct. 27, 1960 [Oct. 27, 1959], No. 36907/60. Heading B7E. A saddle support for cycles and the like comprises a shaft 1 with an eccentric device for mounting a saddle carrier so as to be capable of backward and forward tilting and of longitudinal displacement. The head of the shaft 1 has two holes 3 and 4 in one or both of which a disc 5 fits rotatably and carries a screwed bolt 7 protruding eccentrically from either of its sides. The bolt 7 may be in one piece with its mid-portion mating with a square or round hole in the disc, or the two projecting ends may be welded on to the disc. Nuts 7<SP>1</SP> and 12<SP>1</SP> with washers 9 and 13 clamp two slotted sides 10 of a saddle carrier on. to the shaft 1. If only one disc 5 is used a double-ended bolt 12 with a central plain portion will be used in the hole 4. Two discs, half the length of the hole and having a peripheral flange may be inserted from either side of the hole 3 instead of a single disc 5 (Fig. 6, not shown).. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 10, bosses 17 protrude from either side of a disc 15 which has a knurled flange 15<SP>1</SP>. The disc 15 is assembled in the hole 3 in conjunction with a knurled disc 15<SP>11</SP> with a hole for the boss 17. Thimbles 19 fit over the bosses 17 and have grooves 19 to house side wires 20 of a saddle carrier. The hole 4 carries a simple bolt assembly with similar bosses 21 and 22. The wires 20 may be clamped to the bosses by a turnbuckle 28 with loops 26 or alternately they may be clamped by a pair of bolts connected at each end by plates and passing transversely above and below the wires 20.
