Abstract
778,725. Clamp fastenings. BELLING & LEE, Ltd. June 3, 1955 [June 9, 1954], No. 17001/54. Class 44. [Also in Group XXVIII] In an aerial array comprising first and second crossing members 1, 2 the first member 1 is apertured to receive the second member 2 and the first member has a locking pin 4 rotatably mounted therein the pin being so shaped that upon rotation of the pin it abuts with a wedging action against the second member thereby clamping the second member to the first member. The pin is mounted in coaxial apertures 5 and 6 in the member 1 so that its axis is at right angles to that of the member 2 and it has cylindrical bearing surfaces 7 and 8 which are a clearance fit in the apertures 5. and 6 respectively. The body 9 of the pin is cylindrical but is eccentrically positioned with respect to the axis of the surfaces 7 and 8 so that when the pin is rotated the body 9 clamps the member 2 to the member 1. The pin is provided with a hexagonal or slotted head and it is retained in place in the member 1 by splaying its end as indicated at 14. In a modification the pin can have an upstanding lug to engage the member 2 instead of an eccentric body 9.
