Abstract

1,011,688. Tube Jointing device. WITANDA ENGINEERING Ltd. Sept. 16, 1963 [July 24, 1962], No. 28376/62. Heading F2G. A tube-jointing device comprises at least two connectors 11 projecting from an integral body piece 10, each connector being provided with longitudinal grooves 12 or flats 17 extending from the free end of the connector to terminate in a peripheral groove 13 adjacent the body piece whereby a pair of tubes may be located upon or within the connectors and secured in position by rotating each tube relative to its connector, the tube being provided with groove engaging projections which, after rotation of the tube, lie in the peripheral groove and are misaligned with said longitudinal grooves or flats. In one embodiment (Fig. 2), the connector 11 carries longitudinal grooves 12 terminating in a circumferential groove 13 and having a further groove 14. A tube 15 having pips 16 is inserted with the pips located in the grooves 12 and is rotated through 45 degrees when the pips reach the grooves 13, 14 to lock the tube in position. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3), the longitudinal grooves are replaced by flats 17 and the grooves 13, 14 are not continuous. This embodiment can be used to attach square-sectioned tubes 18 together.
