Abstract
1,194,412. Cable clamps. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 29 Jan., 1968 [17 Feb., 1967], No. 7787/67. Heading H2E. [Also in Division E2] A cable 2 is clamped to a collar 3 integral with a connector member 1 by means of a pair of clamping jaws 5 (one only of which is shown) which are drawn together on to the cable 2 allowing projections 11 to be received in holes 4 in the collar 3, the outer surface 10 of the jaws co-operating with the inner surface 9 of the collar. The two jaws when clamped together define a channel receiving the cable, formed of partly cylindrical surfaces along a length from a flange 12 to the entry to the collar, where it becomes outwardly tapered inside the collar (Fig. 2, not shown). Edges of the jaws provide mutual abutments from which extend set back longitudinal edges 8a having flanges 13 (Fig. 3, not shown), 14 of unequal thickness, screws through the adjacent flanges of the two jaws retaining the latter firmly. Angle cuts 19 at the inner ends of the jaws allow the jaws to be inserted into and removed from the collar without longitudinal movement. Alternatively, more than two jaws may be used.
