Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A clamp for :an electric wire 14 comprises a substantially cylindrical member 1 rotatably received in a part-cylindrical seating formed in a member 2, the members being formed with tangential, apertured fixing lugs 3 and 4 respectively, member 2 being formed with diametrically opposed apertures 10, 11 and member 1 having a through aperture 8 positioned so that the wire may be inserted through aligned apertures 10, 8, 11 when the lugs 3, 4 are as in Fig. 8, and the wire is clamped by surfaces 19, 20 of aperture 8 when the lugs are fastened together as in Fig. 2. Aperture 8 may be formed by drilling two bores 19-20 and 21-22, the axes of which meet on the axis of member 1 and include an angle equal to the range of pivotal movement of member 1. The two bores are of equal diameter. Member 1 is retained axially with respect to member 2 either by a boss (12) on member 1 engaging a recess (9) in member 2, Fig. 1 (not shown), or by a peg 16 secured to member 1 engaging an elongated aperture 15, Fig. 3, or by the ends of one of the members being flanged to engage the ends of the other member, Fig. 5 (not shown). The walls bounding apertures 8, 10 and 11 may be roughened to heighten the clamping effect.
