Abstract

1396484 Spring clips T R W INC 7 June 1973 [7 June 1972] 27251/73 Heading E2B [Also in Division H2] A spring clip 2 for insertion in an aperture in a workpiece comprises a head portion 4 having means which, in use, overlie the workpiece and a shank portion 10 insertable through the aperture and having a pair of oppositely disposed lugs 22 flaring outwardly from the main body of the shank portion and extending generally towards the head portion the lugs 22 being resiliently compressable to permit passage of the shank through the aperture. The shank portion 10 includes two parallel spring lugs 14, the lugs 22 being cut from the material of the legs. The lugs 22 taper outwardly and are of U-shaped crosssection to enhance their rigidity. The free ends of the lugs 22, in use, cooperate with the portion of the workpiece surrounding aperture and are tapered so that the clip can be used with different thickness of workpieces, (Figs 6, 8 not shown). The head portion 4 is provided with a pressed out socket 6 for the reception of a terminal trapping screw (Figs 4, 8 not shown).
