959,022. Measuring electrically. ZAVODY VI LENINA PLZEN NARODNI PODNIK. Sept.28, 1960 [Oct. 1, 1959], No. 33373/60. Heading G1N. The pressure exerted by the rolls of a rolling mill is detected by means of a disc 3 resting in an annular ring 7 inserted between the top frame 1 of the mill and a member 4 contacting the top roller bearing, the disc having, or being associated with, a convex upper surface seated in a corresponding concave cavity, the disc having a strain gauge 5 attached to the centre of its underside. The convex surface may be on a separate disc 2 resting on disc 3, as shown, or may be formed on disc 3. A "fail-safe" shearing ring 6 is provided between disc 3 and ring 7.
