Abstract

955,718. Machinery breaking pieces. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. Feb. 10, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 5037/61. Heading F2X. An overload safety device between a screwdown spindle 1 and a roll chock 3 in a rolling mill comprises a flanged cup 5 having a calibrated fracture point 5c formed in its wall and a shallow recess 7 in its bottom to ensure that the load is transmitted as a tensile force in the cup 5. An intermediate member 6, having an upper part-spherical surface, is disposed between the spindle 1 and bottom of the cup 5. The flanged rim 5a of the cup 5 is supported from the chock 3 by a divided ring member 4. Alternatively, the member 4 may be screwed on to the fracture cup 5.
