Abstract

958,003. Portable endless conveyers. W. M. GREAVES. Aug. 28, 1962 [Aug. 29, 1961], No. 33066/62. Heading B8A. A portable foldable elevator comprises two frame parts 6, 7 hinged together at 8 and supporting an endless conveyer chain 15 provided with pins 17 for engaging the load articles. The articles are supported on roundsection rails 21 and the upper run of the chain is supported in a channel 16. The lower run is supported by an idler sprocket 20. To permit folding of the frame parts 6, 7 without removing the chain, a terminal idler sprocket 19 is mounted between arms 22 which are pivotally mounted in the frame part 7. In the folded form of the elevator, Fig. 5, the chain 15 is slackened by swinging the assembly 22 around to the position shown in Fig. 11 and the chain engages bars 43 of the frame parts. A motor 35 drives the chain through a pulley 40, belt 41 and pulley 31 and a motor mounting plate 32 is secured to the frame part 6 for longitudinal adjustment along slots 33. A motor carrying frame 34 is secured to the plate 32 by a bolt 36 and wing nut 37 and the motor is located at the desired angle relative to the elevator by apertures 38 in the frame 34 which engage around a projection 39 on the plate. Figs. 1, 3 show the elevator extended, the frame parts 6, 7 being locked together by bolts 11 engaging nuts 12, and the idler sprocket arm assembly 22 being maintained in its extended position, Fig. 10, by bolts and nuts 25, 26.
