Abstract
A nickel base alloy comprises: .Cr.10-20%.preferably 12-16% .Nb.6-10%.preferably 7-9% .Co.5-20%.preferably 12-16% .Mo.0.5-3.5%.preferably 2.5-3.5% .C.0-0.25%.preferably less than 0.05% .Fe.0-12%.preferably less than 4% .B.0-0.1%.preferably 0.0001-0.01% .Zr.0-0.5%.preferably less than 0.05% .V.0-1.0%. .Si.0-1.0%.preferably less than 0.3% .Ni.balance.apart from impurities ...and deoxidants The alloy is preferably free of titanium and aluminium and the total content of these elements must not be over 0.1%. Tantalum may be present as an impurity in the niobium. Manganese may be present as an impurity. The heat treatments disclosed are solution heating at 1095-1150 DEG C. for 1-8 hours followed by ageing at 595-815 DEG C. for 1-100 hours. French Specification 1,232,729 is referred to.
