Class 120(ii) A machine for spinning drawing frame slivers of cotton having each pair of drafting rollers constituted by a smooth roller and a fluted roller is provided with weighting saddles, each of which imparts a pressure to a pair of contiguous top rollers and is loaded by means of a common spring acting on individual tie-rods and a linkage. Slivers 8 are drawn from cans by a positively driven roller 10 and pass forward to seven pairs of drawing rollers la, 1b ... 7a, 7b, thence to a ring and traveller spindle. The top rollers, which are covered with leather, are pressed against the bottom rollers by a spring 12 operating through a lever 14 and a hook 15, in the case of the front top roller, and rocking lever 16, arms 18, 19, tie rods 20, 21, 22 and saddles 17 in respect of the remaining top rollers.
