Abstract

955,137. Combine-harvesters. R. CLAAS. April 2, 1963 [Aug. 3, 1962], No. 13009/63. Heading A1F. In a combine-harvester, of the type having a pivoted header composed of an elevator casing 16 terminating in a transverse casing 17 housing the cutter-bar 20 and feed-auger 19 and extending laterally beyond the harvester-body, the transverse casing is detachable from the elevator casing for independent travel during transport of the machine along roads. The elevator-casing terminates in a crossbar 25 which is acted upon by jacks 12 connected to the harvester-body. An angle-iron 30 is secured to the cross-bar and has abutments 32 which receive legs 34 on the transverse casing. Rearwardly-extending lugs 35 on the transverse casing are bolted to corresponding lugs 36 on the elevator casing. End-abutments 29 prevent relative lateral shifting of the casings, when connected together. For transport, the transverse casing is lowered on to a vehicle 18 and then disconnected.
