A self-propelled combine-harvester is formed by the combination of a conventional four-wheeled tractor with a harvester-thresher unit having a threshing device 110, a straw-rack 108 with an underlying conveyer 109 for the separated grain, a grain cleaner 113, and a grain tank 119, and a header M, the unit having struts 111 which rest upon the rear half-axles of the tractor, so that the unit is mounted symmetrically upon the longitudinal median plane of the tractor with the header at the usual rear end of the tractor, which is then driven in reverse, means being provided for connecting the tractor power-take-off to the moving parts on the unit, and for remotely controlling the steering of the machine from a drivers seat 114 on the unit, the stearable wheels 114, being either those of the tractor, or, where these have been removed, a pair on the unit (Fig. 2, not shown). In various modifications the cleaning unit 113 is mounted either above or beside the grain-tank 119 or straddling the tractor engine. When required for other work, the tractor may be removed from the unit and restored to normal use.
