A field chaff cutter is attached laterally to a tractor by a draw bar at the front and at the rear by means of an arm 60 pivotable relatively to the cutter about two axes at right angles to one another and to the wheel axle of the cutter, one of the axes being disposed substantially parallel to the direction of travel A. The cutter is driven from the tractor power takeoff through a chain drive 43, 46, 40 in the arm 60, and thence to a shaft 41 connected by the universal joint 66 to a shaft 65 in the cutter drive. A projection on the arm 60 is bifurcated and supports a bush 68 by pivots in line with the centre 75 of the joint 66. Extensions of the guide 69 for the bush 68 embrace a rod 67 on the cutter frame.
