Abstract

1506702 Gang mowers SISIS EQUIPMENT (MACCLESFIELD) Lid 5 March 1975 [8 Dec 1973] 56991/73 Heading A1F A gang mower for towing behind a tractor comprises a chassis 10, wheels 18, a central mowing unit 14 between the wheels and two outrigger units 16, the mowing units being driven from p.t.o. of the tractor with the drive to each outrigger comprising a universal joint 76, each outrigger being mounted so in use they follow ground undulations with the following movement being limited in the downward direction to within the pivoting capacity of the universal joint 76 e.g. by a bolted - on - plate 40. Each outrigger may be articulated e.g. by hinges 72 into an inoperative position. In use the p.t.o. shaft is connected by an input shaft 30 to a right angle drive conversion unit 28 having an output shaft (not shown) The output shaft carries a chain wheel which via a chain 36 drive a counter shaft 36, the latter carrying chain wheels 40, 46, 54 which via chains 42, 50, 56 drive the mowing units. There may be two forward mowing units 12. The height of the mowing units can be altered by changing the height of rollers 62 associated with each unit.
