Abstract

965,485. Harvesting machines. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. March 19, 1962 [Aug. 28, 1961], No. 10393/62. Heading A1F. A harvesting machine comprises a carrier 2 supporting, at its forward end, a platform 25 and reciprocating cutter bar 45 and is characterised in that the platform is supported on two arms 22, pivoted to the carrier by universal joints 33, and a link 61 so arranged to allow the platform to tilt in a lateral direction. Frame members 37 of the platform loosely embrace the arms 22 whereby the amount of tilt is restricted, each arm 22 having a hydraulic ram associated with it so that it can be moved independently of the other arm. A spring 80 surrounding each ram is adjustable in tension by a collar 82 to alter the height of cut and a spring 85 mounted as shown on the right hand side of the machine counteracts the weight of the drive mechanism on the left hand side of the machine.
