A road verge trimmer comprises a frame (not shown), for coupling to the side of a vehicle, which supports a blade 1, a road-scraping pick-up blade 2 and a housing 4 in which a bearing and throwing wheel 3 rotates. Grass &c. lifted by the wheel 3 is discharged through an opening 6 on to a conveyer belt 5, an adjustable shoot at the upper end of the belt feeding the grass into a truck drawn behind the vehicle or on to the road verge.
