Abstract

827,149. Rotary-scythe mowers ; straw &c. cutters. CONSIDDER, T. A. Sept. 1, 1958, No. 28035/58. Classes 5(1) and 6(3). A rotary-scythe mower has an aperture 19 in its housing 11 above the region traversed by the blade 15 so that material to be comminuted may be introduced through a hopper 24 mounted above the aperture. The mower is mounted on four wheels 17 and is propelled by a handle 18, the motor 13 having a shaft 14 extending through the housing to carry the blade 15. The hopper is detachable, and spring- loaded doors 22 close the aperture when the hopper is removed, the doors being openable against spring-pressure by the weight of the material to be cut up. Straw, leaves and other organic matter may be so comminuted.
