Abstract

962,766. Root-crop harvesters. J. S. G. TURNER. March 25, 1963 [Dec. 23, 1961], No. 46157/61. Heading A1F. In a root-crop harvester having a broad flat share 1 feeding excavated material directly to an endless elevator 2 immediately to the rear of it, a paddle-conveyer 4 is mounted above each side-portion of the share so as to sweep the material rearwardly on to the elevator. The frame of the elevator is pivoted at 12 on the main frame of the harvester and is connected by arms 13 and links 15 to two arms 18 rigid with a cross-shaft 24 pivoted in standards 19 on the main frame so that both sides of the elevator and share are constrained to rise together. A hydraulic ram (not shown) is connected between cross-bars 22, 23 on the arms 13 and standards 19 respectively. The paddle-conveyers have their upper sprockets 6 mounted on a frame 11 pivoted at 20 to the elevator frame and anchored at 21 to the arms 13. Each conveyer 4 is pivoted about the axis of the upper sprockets 6 so as to be movable to avoid obtsructions and is suspended from the frame 11 by a chain 10. The conveyers and elevator are driven from a motor (not shown).
