Abstract

955,006. Ventilated boxes. MAXWELL NICHOLLS Ltd. Oct. 22, 1962 [July 22, 1961], No. 26644/61. Heading B8P. The box comprises a base 7 and pairs of side walls 8 and 9 carrying flaps 8a and 9a respectively. The flaps 8a have necked tongues 11 at their outer ends which pass through slits 19 in the box walls. The flaps 9a are disposed across the corners of the box body and have depending extensions of angular form which project exteriorly through slits 17 in the said base to constitute the feet of the body. The base corner portions and the lower corner portions of the box walls are of rebated form so that the ventilation passages which extend up from the said corner portions of the base each have at the bottom an inlet opening 30, and the ventilation air from the said passages 25 flows between the tops of the flaps 23 and the lid of the box. In a modification the internal body is divided by a transverse partition (Fig. 9) having a pair of divergent flaps at each end with angularsectioned depending extensions which pass through slits 34 in the base and thus form triangular ventilation passages. A detachable lid with preformed ventilation holes is provided. Alternatively the holes may be formed by punching annular incisions therein, the user removing some or all of the centre portions according to the number of holes required.
