Abstract

832,987. Boxes. FIELD, SONS & CO. Ltd. Aug. 6, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 29622/56. Class 18. In a chick box with a flanged lid the corners of the outer side walls are bevelled, as are the corners of the flanged lid which overhang somewhat to allow passage of air. In one embodiment, the box comprises side walls 11, 12, end walls 13, 14 and corner walls 15, the end walls being bent up from the floor 16. Extensions 15a of the corner walls 15 (which are integral with the side walls) extend behind the end walls. A partition wall 18 having ventilation recesses 18b forks at bend lines 18c into separate portions 18d extending to the side walls at bend lines 18f from where they lie inside the outer walls as at 18g, having extensions 18h which abut the extensions 15a. The portions 18d slope downwardly, as at 18e to allow ventilation when the lid is in position, since these portions lie on opposite sides of ventilation holes 19 in each side wall. The various components are secured by any appropriate means. The detachable flanged lid has ventilation holes and its side and end walls are dimensioned to form a slight overhang at the bevelled corners. A pair of battens are secured to the box base, and the corner walls 15 have recesses 15b.
