Abstract
Spacers are provided to hold in position on a pallet what would otherwise be loose boxes of chicks, whilst they are being transported by air. The spacers maintain a specific gap between the boxes to enable adequate ventilation to the chicks. <IMAGE>
Description
WINGED AIRLINE PALLET CHICK BOX SPACER
This invention relates to a chick box spacer, for use on a winged aircraft pallet.
When live day old chicks are shipped by air, they are packed into ventilated boxes, which have to be separated from one another by the use of spacers. On aircraft pallets fitted with wing extensions the present box spacers cannot be used to separate the boxes when stacked along the wings.
This invention will enable the boxes loaded onto the extensions, to be secured by straps or nets, and yet remain separate from each other, by the distance recommended by the airlines carrying them.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows a plan view of the boxes and spacers along the wing extension.
Figure 2 shows a side view of the same.
Figure 3 shows a plan view of an individual spacer.
Claims (1)
- CLAN1 A chick box spacer, to be used to separate boxes and provide a sufficient flow of air, whilst in transit by aircraft, having been loaded onto winged pallets.
