Abstract

953,240. Ventilator windows. ENSOR CARAVANS Ltd. Oct. 25, 1962 [Oct. 26, 1961], No. 38297/61. Heading E1J. [Also in Division F4]. A ventilator window particularly for vehicles, caravans &c. capable of functioning alternately as a hopper window and as a louvre or top hung casement window comprises a panel 17 supported at its lower end in an extruded aluminium frame 18 on a ledge 46 of an inner rubber strip 31 of a weather excluder arrangement which is continuous around the frame 18, an outer rubber strip 32 making contact with the wall 10 surrounding the window opening, and the panel being sandwiched between the flap 34 of the excluder and angular location means 47 faced with resilient pads 56 and secured to central limb 22 of the lower rail of the frame, so that the panel can pivot about its lower edge into the open position against buffers 41 on the cheeks 37, these latter being secured to the sash 18 and the sash 18 is hinged at its top side by hinge 24 to the wall 10 so that it can take up the position shown in Fig. 5 in which it is held by adjustable stays 52. The panel 17 in its open position can be raised by finger pieces 48 through gaps 44 in the top flanges 38 on the cheeks 37 and can be held in such raised position to provide a lower ventilating area. The panel is retained in its closed and open positions in the frame by a two-bowed formation 50, 51.
