[Classes 20(iii) and 137] In a louvre 'ventilator, particularly for a vehicle window, of the kind comprising a vertical panel, near the top edge of which a second panel is set at an angle, so that a ventilating aperture is provided between them and wherein an angularly movable plate controls the size of the aperture, the plate is rendered self-retaining in different angular positions by a spring pressed sliding part adapted to engage with one of a number of retaining recesses in an end part of the louvre device. The drawing shows the invention applied to the window of a public service vehicle. The window comprises a vertical pane 1 and an inclined pane 2 mounted in a common frame, the lower edge of the pane 2 terminating about, level with the top edge of the pane 1, 'so providing an elongated ventilation opening between the panes. The side edges of pane 2 are secured by end plates 5. To allow the size of the ventilation opening to be controlled, a closure plate 8 is hinged at 9 to the glazing bar 10 surmounting the top edge of pane 1, so that it can be turned down to the horizontal position shown, to close the opening, or can be turned to the vertical position, when the opening is fully opened. In the closed position, draughts are prevented by the plate engaging weather strips 11 and 20. The closure plate is fitted with spring devices which engage with registers 19 in the guide plates 16 attached to the end plates 5, to hold the closure plate in one of several intermediate ventilating positions.
