Abstract

To a mixture of ground lime and sand in varying ratios (e.g. 1 : 3) is added sufficient water to hydrate the lime and the mixture is slaked in a rotary vessel in an atmosphere of steam (pressure 30-75 lb. p.s.i.) for 30-60 mins. The mix is then ground in a rod mill and the moisture content brought to between 3% and 8% by weight, by passing warm air through the mill and then matured in storage hopper.
