Abstract

A porous mass for use as an absorbent for liquefied gas comprises a mixture of cement, kieselguhr and asbestos, preferably in amounts 15-55%, 10-70% and 10-40% by weight, with water in amount 2.5 to 5 times the combined weight of the solids. The solid components may be mixed with water, the mixture allowed to set and the moisture driven off by gentle heat. The cement may be Portland, aluminous or pozzolanic.
