Abstract
An adhesive cement composition, for mixing with water prior to use, comprises a dry mixture of 1 to 10 parts by weight of Portland cement and 1 part by weight of a proteinaceous adhesive, e.g. casein or alkali soya protein (i.e. the alkali soluble fraction of the protein from soya bean meal). The mixture may also contain a water soluble cellulose derivative, e.g. methyl cellulose or ethyl hydroxy ethyl cellulose; asbestos, e.g. in the form of asbestos floats or powder; a filler, e.g. whiting or silica sand; plaster, e.g. calcined gypsum or plaster of Paris. In the Provisional Specification the compositions are not restricted to specific proportions of Portland cement and proteinaceous adhesive.
