Abstract

A plastering composition comprises, in parts by weight, 98 to 99.5 gypsum plaster and 2 to 0.5 hydrated lime and 0.01 to 0.075% by weight, relative to the plaster and lime, of a water soluble cellulose ether of a viscosity exceeding 20,000 c.p.s. in 2% aqueous solution at 15 DEG C. A retarded hemihydrate plaster is preferred. Aggregates, e.g. sand, perlite and vermiculite (which can be exfoliated) can be present.
