Abstract

A plaster composition comprises hemihydrate gypsum plaster and vital gluten in dry powdered form, vital gluten being the protein constituent of wheat or rye, substantially free from starch, prepared in a dry form in such a manner that when mixed with water it will form a rubbery mass. The plaster preferably contains 0.1 to 0.5% weight of vital gluten. A retarder, for example keratin, may be incorporated. Gauging materials, for example an aggregate of sand, expanded perlite or vermiculite, and water may be added to make a workable putty.
