Abstract

951,151. Coating lamp bulbs. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 30, 1961 [Sept. 2, 1960], No. 31215/61. Heading B2J. In an apparatus for electrostatically coating the inside of lamp bulb with powder blown into the bulb through a nozzle 18 constituting a negative electrode, the bulb being supported on a rotatable table 4 and being heated by an externally arranged gas burner 25 constituting a positive electrode, the nozzle is provided with powder discharge channels 30 the axes of at least some of which converge in the direction of discharge. This convergence is alleged to produce a more uniform coating of the lamp interior. The nozzle may have a ring of discharge holes 30 the axes of which are located on a conical surface. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 4, the nozzle may comprise two parts 37, 38 which screw one into the other to define a conical annular discharge channel 39 the width of which is adjustable by relative axial screw adjustment of the two parts. Recesses 42 in the end of part 38 facilitate such adjustment.
