Abstract

A synthetic detergent table comprises a sodium primary C15- 20-n-alkyl sulphonate, and water in an amount of 5-15%, preferably about 10%, by weight of the sulphonate. The tablet suitably also includes 5-50 mol. per cent, based on the total active ingredients of an alkylaryl sulphonate, preferably a sodium or magnesium alkyl (polypropylene) benzene sulphonate. Alkyl sulphates, alkylphenol polyoxyethylene sulphates, acyl isothionates, fatty acid monoglyceride sulphonates, polyethylene glycols and the monostearate thereof, C12- 16-fatty alcohols, stearic acid, mineral oil and fatty acid alkanolamides such as lauric isopropanolamide may also be incorporated, as well as primary n-alkyl sulphonates having potassium, ammonium, calcium or magnesium cations. The ingredients containing 10-20% water are mixed and then milled to ribbons which are then plodded at 75-125 DEG F.; the mass is extruded in the form of a continuous rod, which is severed into the desired pieces for stamping, the resulting bars having a water content of 5-15%.
