Abstract

A toilet soap composition in which substantially all the fatty acid radicals are substantially saturated fatty acid radicals, at least 90% by weight of these substantially saturated fatty acid radicals containing from 10-18 carbon atoms, the weight ratio of C10-14 fatty acid radicals to C16-18 fatty acid radicals being from 0.4: 1 to 1.1: 1, the fatty acid radicals being partially saponified as mixed sodium and potassium soaps, the ratio of sodium to potassium expressed as a weight ratio of sodium hydroxide to potassium hydroxide being from 10: 1 to 2: 1, the amount of saponified fatty acid radicals being such that the toilet soap composition contains from 8-20% of free fatty acids; the toilet soap composition also containing from 5-12% of water and from 0.3-3% of sodium chloride. Optional additives include wetting agents, anti-foaming agents and perfumes.
