Abstract
949,499. Winding yarns. W. REINERS. June 8,1960 [June 12,1959], No.20095/60. Heading D1J. A thread winding machine comprises means located between a supply spool and a take up bobbin by which the thread end of the supply spool caused by a thread breakage, is retained in a predetermined position in which it is engageable by a finding device. As shown, the broken end F<SP>1</SP> of a thread coming from.a spool 12 and normally passing via guide 13, tensioner 14, yarn cleaner 15 and traverse drum 2 to a take-up bobbin 3, is sucked into a suction pipe 10 to be held clear of the machine parts. A feeler, not shown, normally in contact with the running thread, moves, on thread breakage, to initiate an automatic end-finding and reknotting operation in which, firstly, bobbin 3 is driven backwards to unwind a length of yarn and then lifted out of contact with its driving drum and secondly, seeker arms 5a and 6 move to engage and shift the thread ends to a reknotting device 7. Finally the bobbin 3 is moved into contact with drum 2 and winding is resumed. A rod 8 is attached to the arm 6 to close a valve'9 in the suction pipe 10 when the arm 6 moves so that the end F<SP>1</SP> is easily removable.
