1366544 Forming a yarn reserve BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 16 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 38323/71 Heading D1J A thread end 101, Fig. 8, is caught by a suction pistol 104 and pulled under a bar 99, along a path 105 and then up under a bracket 106. The thread 101, moving towards the winding zone of a lap creel 56, then travels along the bar 99 until it drops onto a guiding rod 69 from whence it contacts the edge 71 of a lever 68 pivoted at 70. The thread continues to move along the rod 69 and lever 68 until it engages a nose 72 of the lever 68. At the same time the thread travels along the bracket 106, up a vertical arm 107 and thence into the catcher groove 40 of a lap creel 56. The thread snags in the catcher groove 40 and commences to wind up onto the creel 56. The resulting increased tension in the thread causes the lever 68 to commence a pivoting movement towards the creel 56, the inertia of the lever 68 causing a delay in the travel of the yarn past the nose 72 sufficient for a yarn reserve to be wound on the creel 56. As soon as the lever 68 has rocked sufficiently for the thread to pass the nose 72 the thread moves to the end of guide rod 69 from which it is then removed by being automatic-' ally threaded into a guide reciprocated by a threaded roller. To ensure that the thread 101 moves along the rod 69 there is a supply guide for the thread arranged centrally above the winding zone of the creel 56. The axis 70 of the tilting lever 68 is inclined out of the vertical in a direction away from the lap creel 56. The centre of gravity of the lever 68 is such that in its undeflected setting it engages against a fixed stop 76 by a weightinduced torque acting against the direction in which it will be tilted by filament tension. A magnet 37 in the lever 68 co-operates with a fixed magnetisable body to exert a holding moment on the lever 68.
