Abstract

1464112 Yarn winding mechanism DAIWA BOSEKI KK and TOYODA JIDOSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK 19 Feb 1974 [24 Feb 1973 2 Aug 1973] 7421/74 Heading D1J A yarn winding mechanism of the kind comprising a drive drum 8 for driving the bobbin or package mounted in a cradle is characterized in that the cradle 2 comprises a pair of interconnected arms 2a, 2b turnably mounted on a fixed shaft 15c; bobbin holders 13a, 13b mounted one on each of the arms 2a, 2b; each holder 13a, 13b comprising a base disc portion 13c and an additional disc portion 13d in co-axial alignment, said additional disc portion 13d having a diameter that fits in the bore of the bobbin but is smaller than the diameter of the base disc portion 13c; one of the bobbin holders 13a being provided with at least one yarn catching member 21 on the peripheral surface of the base disc portion 13c; and the corresponding arm 2a having a cut-out portion 22 adjacent the bobbin holder 13a, there being a cutter 23 in the cut-out portion 22. In Fig. 4 the yarn catching members are hooks 14. When it is required to catch an end portion of the yarn 3 on the bobbin 1, a guide rod 11 is turned to a projected position shown in solid lines to displace the yarn 3 toward the cradle arm 2a. Thereafter the yarn 3 is turned over the bobbin 1 as shown in Fig. 4. When the cradle 2 is lowered towards the split drum 8 and the bobbin 1 is rotated by the drum, one of the hooks 14 catches a free end portion of the yarn 3 so that a wind-up of the yarn commences on an end portion of the bobbin. When a tail end has been wound the rod 11 is returned to its inoperative position shown in dot-dash line. This permits the yarn to be caught by a guide split of the split drum 8 so that normal traverse is commenced. In Fig. 9 the hooks 14 are replaced by cut-out portion 21 in the base disc portion 13c. The cradle arm 2a has a cut-out portion 22 in which is a cutter 23. To commence a wind-up operation the yarn is introduced into suction means above the cradle and a loop is drawn out over the bobbin 1 and manually introduced towards the cradle arm 2a in such a way that the yarn 3 enters the cut-out portion 22. In this condition the yarn is caught by one of the cut-out portions 21 and the free end of the yarn is cut by the cutter 23. The tail end is then wound as before.
