Abstract

946,810. Electrostatic precipitation. SIMONCARVES Ltd. July 27, 1962 [Aug. 21, 1961], No. 26456/61. Heading B2J. The means for rapping the collecting electrode elements 19a in an electro-precipitator comprises a rapper bar 26 secured to the lower end of each element, means 29 for imparting a rapping impact to one end of the bar, resilient means 35 for limiting axial movement of the bar and means 36,which are disposed externally to the precipitator housing 11, for axiallyadjusting the bar in relation to the impact means. The collecting electrode 19a and discharge electrodes 18a are arranged in the electro-precipitator as described in Specification 878,869. As shown in Fig. 1, the rapper bar 26 protrudes through one side of the casing 11, is held by a bifurcated leaf spring 37 and is axially-adjustable by means of a nut 36. When struck by the impact means 29, the bar is vibrated against the action of the resilient means which are in the form of a helical spring 35 ; alternatively this spring may be replaced by a leaf spring. In another embodiment, the rapper bar protrudes through both sides of the casing and the leaf spring 37 is replaced by a helical one. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 5, only one spring is made use of. Specification 913,499 also is referred to.
