Abstract

946,389. Couplings. AMP Inc. July 16, 1962 [Aug. 8, 1961], No. 27184/62. Addition to 904,686. Heading H2E. A connector for crimping to the end of a braided wire sheath 15 of a coaxial cable comprises concentric metal ferrules 4, 7 enclosed and spaced apart by a transparent insulating sleeve 1, the outer ferrule 7 having an axial bulge 12 to accommodate a pigtail wire 18 which, with sheath 15, extends between ferrules 4 and 7 and beyond to become visible (Fig. 3) through sleeve 1. Ferrules 4, 7 are crimped about sheath 15 and wire 18 through the sleeve 1, the wider end of which is crimped about cable insulation 14 and wire insulation 19. In alternative embodiments, the connector is provided with an outer ferrule having more than one axial bulge (Fig. 4, not shown), an inner ferrule recessed within the sleeve (Fig. 5, not shown), or a third ferrule, spaced from the inner ferrule and held within a narrower extension of the sleeve, for connecting the cable core to one similar (Figs. 6-9, not shown).
