Safety harness for a person in a vehicle comprises at least one cushioning pad 2 secured, as by an adhesive and/or stitching, to a flattened sleeve 1 around a strap 3 of the harness. Each end of the sleeve may be wide enough to receive the strap and engage it frictionally so that the sleeve can be moved along the strap, but not too easily. The sleeve may be attached to the strap, in a desired position, by sliding clasp fasteners, buttons or press-studs. Over most of its length, the sleeve may be wider than at its ends. Each pad may be in the form of a strip of foamed plastic material, such as rubber, polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride, slightly less in width and length than the sleeve and may be covered with chamois leather or soft, flexible plastic material. There may be one or more pads inside and/or outside a sleeve.
