Abstract

1384781 Body harness C SCHEUERBRANDT 5 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 15750/72 Heading A3V A harness particularly for holding a child in a motor car seat comprises a rectangular main part 1 of flexible material with fastening straps 8 having cooperable fastening elements 10, 11 at their free ends extending from each of the longer parallel edges of the part 1, shoulder straps 2 extending from each of the straps 8 and having fastening elements 5 thereon for engagement with complementary elements 4 at the opposite corners of the part 1, and a supporting strap 3 with fastening elements 4, 5 secured to the main part 1 and extending at an oblique angle with respect to its longer parallel edges. A cross ribbon 7 joins the straps 8 at a position spaced from the main part 1. In use, the straps 8 are fitted to the motor car seat and a child is held in place by the shoulder straps 2 which are secured to the fastening elements 4 on the main part 1, the part 1 passing between the child's legs. The supporting 3 is of use for securing a child to a motor car seat in a lying position in which case a head cushion (not shown) is attached to the main part 1. Rings 9 in the straps 8 may be used to secure the ends of the straps 8 to provide stirrups when the harness is used outside of the motor car for carrying a child on an adult's back.
