Abstract

The straps on a childs safety harness seat are connected to a cantilevered bar supported by a pivot clamped by elastic spacers. In the event of high deceleration, the clamps allow the bar to pivot while partially restrained by elastic friction, to allow the body sufficient motion to avoid dangerous whiplash of the head and neck. Pref. the elastic spacers are of nylon or similar.
